Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., today announced the guilty plea of JASON QUINONES, 22, to Rape in the First Degree and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, for raping a woman in her East 90th Street apartment on August 13, 2011, and for sexually abusing another woman in her East 83rd Street apartment on July 2, 2011.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., today announced the guilty plea of ALBERTO BARRIERA, 47, for the 1993 rape of a 16-year-old girl in her apartment building in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. BARRIERA pled guilty to Rape in the First Degree and is expected to be sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison on August 17, 2011. Because his identity was unknown at the time, BARRIERA’s DNA profile was indicted as a “John Doe” case before the 10-year statute of limitations expired. Seventeen years after the rape, the defendant’s DNA was collected after 2009 felony convictions for drug possession and transport in Virginia, and his profile matched this Manhattan sexual assault.

In his role as a minister, Jeremy Fulton was trusted by parents who unknowingly put their daughters in the hands of a sexual predator who plead guilty to raping and sexually abusing five girls who attended his church. Although, he is expected to be sentenced to 22 years in prison, I think that he should have been castrated and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Those young girls should not have their emotional healing interrupted with the knowledge that their rapist will be out and free to abuse other young victims in 22 years. What do you think? LOS ANGELES - Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. announced today that accused Westside Rapist John Floyd Thomas, Jr., who is scheduled to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom today, was apprehended in pursuit of DNA evidence in the Grim Sleeper serial murder case. Thomas is accused of murdering seven women in Los Angeles and is a suspect in as many as two dozen other murders.
