Yankees On A Roll

After a long, nine game, West coast road trip, the Yankees finally get to return home to the Bronx. They went 6-3 during that stretch and find themselves in first place in the division, one game ahead of the Boston Red Sox. With everything the Yankees have achieved on the pitching end, all the talk has really been about their lack of clutch hitting thus far. The ironic thing is that everyone questioned how good their pitching would be after the retirement of Andy Pettitte. However, I am impressed at how this pitching staff has done so far this year. Will there be a time when they are not pitching so well? Of course there will be. Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint. You have ups and downs. I'll take the ups they are on right now so, if at some point they struggle, there's a reminder of how good they can pitch when everything is on point. In addition to the Yankees winning, Derek Jeter now finds himself 14 hits away from that magical hit number 3000. With a 10 game...

Sports/ Colon Renaissance Continues

Bartolo Colon continues to prove that he hasn't lost his talent with yet another brilliant performance today. He has defied all of the naysayers who believed he could never recover the career he lost shortly after claiming the 2005 Cy Young Award. The Yankees knew they were taking a chance, but are now most definitely appreciative of what the 37 year old right hander is giving them. With Phil Hughes still sidelined Colon has been a breath of fresh air to a pitching staff that was much maligned after the retirement of Andy Pettitte. Hopefully he can uphold this mastery as the season rolls along. By: Sean Snowden

Yankee Struggles Continue

Last night, the New York Yankees lost their sixth straight game but this time it was not completely the fault of the offense. A.J. Burnett was in cruise control for most of his start and after a three run homer by Curtis Granderson , all he needed to do was pitch two more solid innings. Instead, he surrendered a four run lead in the sixt h inning on home runs my Matt Joyce and B.J. Upton to make it 6-5 and the Yankees was shell shocked. Why does this happen to every New York team in almost every professional sport? The Mets choked back to back seasons in '07 and '08 when leading their division, the Knicks get too complacent and can't ever seem to bury a team, the Rangers can never seem to play a good game when they really need to, both New York football choke when they can't afford it, and now we can add the Yankees to that list. As a New York sports fan, I know how sick we are of our teams constantly doing this. Whatever is wrong with the Yankees, they be...

Knicks, Yankees, Barry Bonds

Well fellow Knick fans, we never thought we would see it again but after last nights loss to the Celtics, the Knicks WILL be playing again. Sunday evening at 7 is the Knicks first playoff game in seven years as the get ready to face off against the Boston Celtics. This will be their first meeting in the post season in over 20 years in which the Knicks won the series in five games. The biggest difference between the team from 2004 and this years team is not only the roster but the focus. That team in 2004 was not ready to make the playoffs, let alone win a playoff game. With better leadership in Amar'e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, and a player with a championship in Chauncey Billups, the Knicks are much more suited to win at least a playoff game. Do we or anybody else expect the Knicks to win a championship this year? I there's a better shot a winning the mega millions lottery than that happening but they have the potential to do pull a possible upset. I just find it funny tha...
