District of Columbia Attorney and Investigators Indicted

DC Attorney Charged For Manufacturing Evidence, Witness Tampering: MyFoxDC.com WASHINGTON – A seven-count federal indictment was unsealed today in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia charging a Washington, D.C., criminal defense attorney and two criminal investigators for their alleged roles in a scheme to obstruct an ongoing criminal case, including, among other things, manufacturing evidence and tampering with a witness, announced Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division. Attorney Charles F. Daum, 64, of Arnold, Md., and investigators Daaiyah Pasha, 60, of Washington, D.C., and Iman Pasha, 31, of Springfield, Va., each were charged with one count of conspiring to corruptly influence a juror. Daum was also charged with three counts of influencing a juror, one count of tampering with a witness and two counts of inducing perjury. Former Employee of Non-Profit Indicted in Kickback Scheme

BOSTON—A former employee of a non-profit organization that provides support services to developmentally disabled adults was arraigned today in federal court for soliciting, demanding, and accepting kickbacks. CHARLES FEENEY, 56, of North Billerica, the former facilities director of non-profits Walnut Street Center (WSC) and Community Alternative Residential Environment, Inc. (CARE), was charged in a two-count indictment for kickbacks in connection with the renovation of a building that now serves, in part, as a day facility for disabled adults.

U.S. Department of Labor orders Charles Schwab to reinstate 2 corporate fraud whistleblowers

MILBURN, N.J. -- The U.S. Department of Labor has ordered The Charles Schwab Corp. to reinstate and pay back pay and damages to two employees who were fired in violation of the whistleblower provision of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. The whistleblower complaint was filed with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) on June 15, 2007, naming The Charles Schwab Corp., Charles Schwab & Co. Inc., Charles Schwab Bank and three individuals as defendants. The complaint alleged that the two employees were terminated because they objected to and refused to participate in a scheme at a branch office to falsify entries in Schwab's database system. An investigation conducted by OSHA's Whistleblower Protection Program determined that there was merit to the allegations.
