Raymond Capozziello, The Leader of Connecticut-Based Oxycodone Ring Sentenced in Manhattan Federal Court to 40 Months in Prison

PREET BHARARA, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced that RAYMOND CAPOZZIELLO, the leader of an oxycodone trafficking organization based in Bridgeport, Connecticut, was sentenced today to 40 months in prison. CAPOZZIELLO pled guilty on March 21, 2011, to one count of conspiracy to distribute oxycodone and one count of distributing oxycodone. CAPOZZIELLO, 46, of Trumbull, Connecticut, was sentenced in Manhattan federal court by U.S. District Judge KIMBA M. WOOD.

Virginia Man Sentenced to 23 Years in Prison for Plotting Attacks on D.C.-Area Metro Stations with People He Believed to Be al Qaeda Members

WASHINGTON—Farooque Ahmed, 35, of Ashburn, Va., was sentenced today to 23 years in prison, followed by 50 years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to charges stemming from his attempts to assist others whom he believed to be members of al Qaeda in planning bombings at Metrorail stations in the Washington, D.C., area. Neil H. MacBride, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; Todd Hinnen, Acting Assistant Attorney General for National Security; and James W. McJunkin, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Washington Field Office, made the announcement after Ahmed entered his guilty plea and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Bruce Lee.
