Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating an incident that resulted in a Deer Park man being shot in the leg

Englebert Benjamin, 30, of Deer Park, was in the parking lot of a shopping center on Commack Road and Bay Shore Road when he became involved in an altercation with an unknown subject at approximately 8:45 p.m. last evening. After entering a store in the shopping center, Benjamin exited the store, observed a dark-colored vehicle driving by, and heard numerous gunshots. One of the shots struck Benjamin in the leg.

Benjamin was self-transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
