Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Commack early this morning.

Guy Gulutz was driving a 2004 Mazda RX8 westbound on Route 454, 150 feet north of Apple Lane, in Commack when his vehicle struck a pedestrian, Brian Dorak, at 12:27 a.m. Dorak, 30, of Commack, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Gulutz, 39, of East Northport, was transported to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8441.
