Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor-vehicle-crash that critically injured a 9-year-old bicyclist in Rocky Point tonight.
Robert Dougherty, 20, was driving a 1990 Jeep southbound on Madison Street when his Jeep struck Jackelin Vilorio at the Roosevelt Street intersection in Rocky Point at 7:15 p.m. Vilorio was operating her bicycle east on Roosevelt Street at the time of the crash.
Vilorio, 9, of Rocky Point, was transported by Rocky Point Fire Department to Stony Brook University Medical Center where she was admitted in critical condition. Dougherty, of Rocky Point, was not injured.
The Jeep was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
